Data-SSML

Data-SSML is the 1EdTech specification for adding text-to-speech pronunciation cues to assessment and learning content. It defines a data-ssml attribute that carries W3C Speech Synthesis Markup Language functions, attributes, and values as JSON, so screen readers and read-aloud tools pronounce content correctly in both QTI 3 and plain HTML. It is an ancillary specification of the QTI 3 standard.
