Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT)
Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) is the 1EdTech standard for connecting test delivery platforms to adaptive testing engines without a proprietary integration. It treats the adaptive engine as a black box — protecting the algorithm that drives adaptivity — and defines a simple API for secure communication between the two systems, drawing on QTI for the item model, metadata, scoring, and usage data.
CAT v1.0 is available as Public Candidate Final: the QTI project group is still completing the conformance certification requirements, test set, and documentation, and the specification goes to the 1EdTech Technical Advisory Board for vote and approval once multiple delivery and adaptive engines have certified successfully.
1EdTech Korea publishes Korean-language summaries of this standard for readers in Korea. The specification documents are maintained in English by 1EdTech. If you are reading in English, please continue to the official page.
